{"id":613381,"date":"2025-12-05T07:53:37","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T07:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/613381\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T07:53:37","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T07:53:37","slug":"chansiri-poses-only-takeover-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/613381\/","title":{"rendered":"Chansiri poses only takeover &#8216;battle&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Simon Jordan has warned of how Dejphon Chansiri could scupper a <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/sheffield-wednesday\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> takeover, with the Owls hoping to have a new owner in place by 2026.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/tag\/sheffield-wednesday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> remain in the midst of a takeover process after <a href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/tag\/dejphon-chansiri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dejphon Chansiri<\/a> placed the club into administration in October, after 10 years in charge at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n<p>The Owls have widespread debt and numerous issues for the next owner to combat, including <a href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/2025\/11\/21\/true-cost-of-sheffield-wednesday-takeover-emerges-as-hillsborough-repairs-balloon-price-tag\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stadium repairs which could cost upwards of \u00a3100million<\/a>. But the club is fielding a lot of interest from potential buyers nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/2025\/11\/19\/dejphon-chansiri-plotting-sheffield-wednesday-debt-repayment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chansiri is still owed at least \u00a315million by Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> and he\u2019s expected to try and claim that money back before the next owner completes a takeover.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Jordan warns about Dejphon Chansiri as <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/sheffield-wednesday\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> eye takeover<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/video\/football\/3713165\/simon-jordan-reveals-what-he-thinks-sheffield-wednesday-are-currently-worth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">talkSPORT<\/a>, pundit and former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan was asked whether he thinks SWFC can complete a takeover by the New Year. However, because of \u201925 pence on the pound liability\u2019, Chansiri is only owed 25% of that amount, which is \u00a315.6million.<\/p>\n<p>The Thai businessman will want to claim that back after losing so much of his wealth in SWFC over the years, and Jordan thinks Chansiri could be the man to prolong a takeover at Hillsborough. Jordan said: \u201cFrom his point of view [the administrators], he\u2019ll want to get his X amount of hundreds of thousands, or millions in administration fees as quickly as possible. So I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any reason why it couldn\u2019t be, but the battle ground will be Chansiri.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest on the <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/sheffield-wednesday\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> takeover<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re approaching the administrators\u2019 previous December 5th deadline for naming a preferred bidder. U.S. businessman John McEvoy is in the running, and Ashley too despite his rejected bid, with five formal bids having arrived.<\/p>\n<p>News on the takeover front has been somewhat quiet in December so far.
