There was confusion this week<\/a> when steampunk action RPG The God Slayer<\/a> was announced for Xbox Series X|S as well as PS5 and PC.<\/p>\n

The game had been revealed as part of Sony\u2019s China Hero Project<\/strong><\/a> programme, but there was no mention of the scheme in the title\u2019s latest trailer.<\/p>\n

This led us to assume that the project had expanded beyond the scope of PlayStation\u2019s incubation initiative, and was now standing on its own two-feet. So far, all of the releases included in the support programme have enjoyed a period of timed console exclusivity.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

But as we noted in our article update<\/a>, maker Pathea Games contacted us to confirm the title is very much still under Sony\u2019s wing.<\/p>\n

Asked to clarify how the platform holder is assisting with the project, a spokesperson told us: \u201cSony is assisting the project with some game development support, marketing, and publishing.\u201d<\/p>\n

We asked if the game will enjoy a period of timed console exclusivity per PlayStation\u2019s investment into it, but the dev was unable to comment.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an interesting scenario overall: while Sony did upload the game\u2019s various new trailers to its YouTube channel<\/a>, it didn\u2019t post about it on social media or the PS Blog<\/a>. Moreover, the official China Hero Project account<\/a> hasn\u2019t posted about the game either.<\/p>\n

But the game is still very much mentioned on the programme\u2019s official website<\/a>, as a \u201cproject currently in production\u201d.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll continue digging on this one because it is all a bit odd really.<\/p>\n

We suppose with The God Slayer not due out until 2027, there\u2019s plenty of time for a clearer picture to emerge. But so far, this China Hero Project title is being handled a little differently to the rest.<\/p>\n
