It’s the final pin that pops his inflated pompous ego, but soon Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a> can no longer strut about as a vice-admiral in the Royal Navy<\/a>. Defence chiefs<\/a> have been told to “get on with it” and remove the disgraced ex-prince of his last title – after King Charles requested his brother loses his vice-admiralship weeks ago. \u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Randy Andy’ is already no longer a prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh or Colonel of the Grenadier Guards – and been shorn of the Order of the Garter and the Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order. Soon he and Sarah Ferguson<\/a> will also be booted from Royal Lodge, at Windsor<\/a>. Their eager friendship with the now disgraced New York financier and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> has exacted a bitter toll.<\/p>\n

Andrew’s also lost several overseas honorary roles, including colonel-in-chief of The Royal Highland Fusiliers Of Canada, and colonel-in-chief of the Royal New Zealand Army Logistic Regiment.<\/p>\n

Those two are a big blow to ‘Air Miles Andy’. He loves foreign jollies.<\/p>\n

Now he’ll have to make do with a long weekend in Great Yarmouth. 70s rockers Showaddywaddy are playing Britannia Pier next August, so that would be a good time to check it out.<\/p>\n

Fergie and Andrew’s reputation is irrecoverable after not only Virginia Giuffre’s recent posthumous autobiography, but emails revealing they both continued contact with Epstein despite publicly cutting ties.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Andrew told BBC<\/a> Newsnight he broke off his friendship with Epstein in December 2010, after the two men were photographed together strolling in New York.<\/p>\n

But new emails claim he wrote to Epstein after the photo was published, saying: “It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it. Otherwise keep in close touch and we\u2019ll play some more soon!!!!”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Fergie in 2011 said her involvement with Epstein had been a “gigantic error of judgment” adding: “I cannot state more strongly that I know a terrible, terrible error of judgement was made, my having anything to do with Jeffrey Epstein.”<\/p>\n

But in September 2025 an email surfaced claiming that shortly after giving the interview in 2011, the duchess emailed Epstein: “You have always been a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family.”<\/p>\n

Oopsie. Now Prince Andrew<\/a> is plain Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Just don’t forget the hyphen.<\/p>\n

His titles are nearly all gone and losing this last one will hurt more than the rest.<\/p>\n

Andrew, 65, was made an honorary captain in 2004 and awarded the honorary rank of vice-admiral for his 55th birthday in February 2015, after serving in the Royal Navy for 22 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He had been due to receive a promotion to admiral on his 60th birthday – but that was deferred when he sat down with Emily Maitlis and told us of his inability to sweat on Newsnight in 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now the nearest he’ll get to being an admiral is when he renews his car insurance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Royal author and journalist Valentine Low told the BBC losing this last military title will be a huge “blow” to Andrew.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Royals, and particularly Andrew, are very proud and determined to hang onto military titles,” he said. “It seems the King is intent on taking absolutely everything away from his brother. It’s a flinty eyed ruthlessness he’s displaying.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Defence Secretary John Healey recently confirmed the government is “working to remove” the vice-admiral title as King Charles had “indicated that’s what he wishes”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Healey added: “This is a move that’s right, it’s a move the King has indicated we should take and we’re working on that at the moment.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

During Andrew’s 22-year career in the Royal Navy he served as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War and commanded the mine countermeasures vessel HMS Cottesmore.\u00a0<\/p>\n
