A man was punched, kicked and robbed on a major city centre street this morning. At around 4.30am today (Friday, December 5), Merseyside Police received a report that a man aged in his 20s was on Church Street when he was punched and kicked by two other men who stole his mobile phone and wallet.<\/p>\n
Emergency services<\/a> went to the scene. With the assistance of Citywatch CCTV<\/a>, the suspect\u2019s movements<\/a> were tracked and they were detained in a taxi shortly after the incident.<\/p>\n A 20-year-old man from Liverpool<\/a> and a 19-year-old man from Manchester<\/a> have both been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They remain in police custody.<\/a><\/p>\n The victim, who was helped at the scene by members of the public, did not sustain any serious injuries.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Lee Egerton said: \u201cThis was a cowardly robbery carried out by two males who clearly knew that they outnumbered their victim.<\/p>\n \u201cThankfully, due to the swift response from officers and with the help of Liverpool City Council\u2019s extensive Citywatch CCTV, we were quickly able to identify the suspects and arrest them nearby.<\/p>\n \u201cAlthough we have two men in custody, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you witnessed what happened or have any information, please come forward and tell us what you know.\u201d<\/p>\n To get in touch, you can call 101 or DM @MerpolCC on social media, quoting reference number 25000992646.
