Manchester United defender Jonny Evans<\/a> is reportedly being eyed by Wrexham as they prepare for life in the Championship.<\/p>\n The Welsh side, who are owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, confirmed their automatic promotion to the second tier at the weekend with a win over Charlton Athletic. They’re expected to be active in the transfer market as they look to establish themselves in the second tier with the ultimate ambition of reaching the Premier League.<\/p>\n They have already been linked with some high-profile players, including striker Jamie Vardy, who will leave Leicester City at the end of the season. However, it has been suggested that Vardy is not keen on a move to a Championship club.<\/p>\n Vardy\u2019s former Leicester teammate Evans has also been mentioned by the Sun<\/a> as a possible target. The defender is out of contract at Old Trafford<\/a> at the end of the season and is expected to leave the club.<\/p>\n At 37-years-old, it remains to be seen if he will continue playing. But he could be offered a chance to with a drop down to the Championship with Wrexham with the player said to be on the club\u2019s wishlist.<\/p>\n Evans has seen his season impacted by injury this campaign, but has returned to the bench for the latest two United<\/a> games against Wolves and Bournemouth. He would bring experience to the Wrexham team.<\/p>\n However, only 18 of his 400-plus league appearances have come in the Championship.<\/p>\n Speaking about potential transfers this summer, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has outlined exactly what they are looking for in any potential new arrivals.<\/p>\n “We haven\u2019t really spoken about anything,” Parkinson said. “We\u2019ve always got our eye on players who are free transfers and are going to be available.<\/p>\n “I think it\u2019s interesting because the jump in salaries is incredible, mind-blowing. Even coming up to this level, the jump to get players of Championship quality is expensive.<\/p>\n “But obviously the next level, I don\u2019t think people outside football quite realise. They think players in League One must be multi-millionaires, but the drop-off from what people read in the press about Premier League<\/a> players is huge.<\/p>\n “That is a challenge but what we\u2019ve always tried to do is make sure the culture in the club is right.
