{"id":615998,"date":"2025-12-06T13:23:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T13:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/615998\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T13:23:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T13:23:16","slug":"bemerton-heath-pump-track-officially-open-to-the-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/615998\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemerton Heath pump track officially open to the public"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Located in Bemerton Heath, the cycling facility is now open to the public in Salisbury.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The track is designed for bikes, skateboards and scooters, and aims to support outdoor activity for residents of all ages and abilities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It was created following strong community involvement through the Bemerton Bright Ideas Community Panel and the Community Conversations programme.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In attendance at a special opening event on Thursday, December 4, was local resident Esme Ward. Esme competes as a GB BMX rider in the age 14 girls challenge class and is currently ranked 8th in the world after competing in this year\u2019s world championships in Copenhagen.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sam Goss, a Bemerton Heath resident and panel member, said: &#8220;We are incredibly excited about the new pump track that has been brought to the estate by Community Conversations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;This is turning a poorly used space into a venue for the whole of Wiltshire and will put Bemerton Heath on the map.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It is going to bring so many people to Salisbury.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The pump track is the result of strong local engagement through Community Conversations and the Bemerton Bright Ideas Community Panel.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The track, built by specialists at On Track, is located at the end of Western Way.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Cllr Ian Thorn, leader of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salisburyjournal.co.uk\/topics\/wiltshire-council\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wiltshire Council<\/a>, said: &#8220;We\u2019re thrilled to see the Bemerton Heath Pump Track open and ready for use.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;This is a brilliant new space for people to be active, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Group shot showing community representatives, councillors and staff with Esme, BMX rider (Image: Wiltshire Council)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Cllr Sam Charleston, Leader of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salisburyjournal.co.uk\/topics\/salisbury-city-council\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salisbury City Council<\/a>, said: &#8220;The new pump track in Bemerton Heath provides a great activity for the residents of Salisbury and nearby communities, while also attracting visitors from farther away.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It\u2019s a fantastic addition to the area, and we\u2019re proud to take on its ongoing care and maintenance.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The track has been funded by Wiltshire Council with a \u00a3250,000 investment, supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Salisbury City Council will be responsible for its ongoing maintenance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Due to limited parking at the site, visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use public transport where possible.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Community Conversations focuses on local areas of need and asks people living there to join together, share ideas and see how they can inspire and make a difference where they live.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Located in Bemerton Heath, the cycling facility is now open to the public in Salisbury.
