Money to upgrade the parks has come from the city&#8217;s Community Infrastructure Levy, which is charged to developers when they are granted planning permission for a large new building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Here&#8217;s a full breakdown of where that money will be spent:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Bannerman Road Park, Lawrence Hill (\u00a3200,000):<\/strong> renewal of one of the city\u2019s oldest play areas, located near the Frome Gateway growth area, to replace equipment that is being removed on safety grounds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">St George Park, St George West (\u00a3680,000):<\/strong> a major upgrade to transform provision for children and young people, including the renewal of the wheels (skate) park \u2013 one of only five in the city \u2013 and improvements to the play area.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Purdown Open Space, Lockleaze (\u00a350,000):<\/strong> additional funding to support a new play facility in an area the council describes as &#8216;experiencing significant growth&#8217;, ensuring local children have access to high-quality play within a 10-minute walk from home.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Argyle Road Playing Fields (Barton Fields), Hillfields (\u00a350,000):<\/strong> enhancements to an existing project to add more play equipment and meet &#8216;community aspirations&#8217; near major housing developments.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Greville Smyth Park and other sites (\u00a3120,000):<\/strong> upgrades to concession pitches with water and power supplies and improvements to a key entrance to the park, which the council says will create opportunities for events and income generation to reinvest in parks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">The council said it had focused funding on parts of the city with booming populations. The projects will be delivered between 2026 and 2028, and locals in each area will be given the chance to chime in with their design ideas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Councillor Stephen Williams, Chair of the Public Health and Communities Committee, said: \u201cOur parks and green spaces are amongst the crown jewels of our city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">&#8220;These spaces are vitally important to our city\u2019s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, and this investment recognises the value in which we hold them.
