{"id":616331,"date":"2025-12-06T17:12:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T17:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/616331\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T17:12:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T17:12:19","slug":"spring-2026-the-nen-north-edinburgh-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/616331\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2026 \u2013 The NEN \u2013 North Edinburgh News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/scottish-opera-tour-scaled.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/scottish-opera-tour-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-218986\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Tickets are on sale now for Scottish Opera\u2019s Opera Highlights\u00a0The Office Party,\u00a0which journeys to 18 venues across Scotland this Spring.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Bringing world-class opera direct to communities, the production hits the road from 3 February to 14 March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Telling the story of a raucous office party and a messy love triangle, it features four talented singers and a pianist and is the perfect opportunity to hear extracts from much-loved classics and lesser-known treasures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This production is woven together with music from Leoncavallo\u2019s\u00a0Pagliacci, Gounod\u2019s\u00a0Romeo and Juliette, Massenet\u2019s\u00a0Werther, Handel\u2019s\u00a0Alcina, Strauss II\u2019s\u00a0Die Fledermaus\u00a0and Samuel Barber\u2019s one-act opera,\u00a0A Hand of Bridge, all sung in English.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Transforming smaller venues into a local opera house, the show travels to Glasgow, Tillicoultry,\u00a0Helensburgh, Town Yetholm, Newton Stewart, Dunlop, Dalmally, Dornie, Stornoway, Gairloch, Newtonmore, Banchory, Fraserburgh, Cromarty, Orkney, Wick, Lairg and Bathgate. Scottish Opera\u2019s extensive touring programme is one of the largest of any European opera company, ensuring performances are within reach of as many of Scotland\u2019s dispersed population as possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Created specifically for Scottish Opera each season, performing in\u00a0The Office Party are 2025\/26 Emerging Artists soprano\u00a0<strong>Kira Kaplan\u00a0<\/strong>(Trial by Jury\u00a0&amp;\u00a0A Matter of Misconduct!\u00a02025),baritone\u00a0<strong>Daniel Barrett\u00a0<\/strong>(L\u2019heure espagnole\u00a0&amp;\u00a0The Bear\u00a02025), tenor\u00a0<strong>Connor James Smith<\/strong>\u00a0(The Merry Widow\u00a02025) and mezzo-soprano\u00a0<strong>Alexandria Moon<\/strong>, who is making her Company debut. Accompanying the singers on piano is Music Director\u00a0<strong>Toby Stanford<\/strong>, Emerging Artist Repetiteur.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The show\u2019s Director is\u00a0<strong>Emma Doherty\u00a0<\/strong>who last worked with Scottish Opera on the Outreach &amp; Education show,\u00a0The Giant\u2019s Harp, and was Assistant Director in 2024 on\u00a0Oedipus Rex\u00a0and\u00a0Marx in London!\u00a0Designs are by the award-winning\u00a0<strong>Kenneth MacLeod<\/strong>, who worked on last Season\u2019s\u00a0Opera Highlights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Emma Doherty<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>said: \u2018It was fantastic to see the audience reactions to our production this autumn, which showcases some beautiful music and deals with the themes of forbidden love and deception.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI am looking forward to getting back into the rehearsal room with the new cast, to prepare for the spring tour.
