{"id":616764,"date":"2025-12-06T22:26:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T22:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/616764\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T22:26:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T22:26:12","slug":"thanksgiving-is-the-new-dining-trend-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/616764\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving is the new dining trend in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Restaurants and food critics are reporting a surge in interest for Thanksgiving dinner in the UK, particularly in London.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Research by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ocadoretail.com\/media-centre\/press-releases\/thanksgiving-boom-young-brits-drive-the-rise-for-americana-food-culture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">food retailer Ocado<\/a> shows searches for foods associated with Thanksgiving like pumpkin spice, Herr\u2019s buffalo blue cheese curls and Newman\u2019s Own ranch dressing are up 550%, 410% and 202% respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Food writer Ben McCormack explained that \u2018in the past American food had a terrible reputation in this country\u2019 but that there has been a marked increase in awareness of the variety of American cuisine like new style Californian and Southern US foods like gumbo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Joe\u2019s Brasserie in Fulham typically serves traditional British food. But this year they decided to serve Thanksgiving dinner for the first time after customers suggested it might be popular.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Owner Will Hattersley said: \u201cThe response has actually been really, really positive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Restaurant review sites are boasting extensive lists of places to eat on Thanksgiving in London, from <a href=\"https:\/\/luxurylondon.co.uk\/taste\/food\/best-thanksgiving-dinners-in-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">luxury experiences<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squaremeal.co.uk\/restaurants\/best-for\/thanksgiving-dinner-london_9392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cosy pub atmospheres<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This comes as the number of US expats in the UK is booming, with 6100 Americans applying for citizenship in 2024, the highest number ever recorded and a 26% increase, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistics\/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-december-2024\/how-many-people-are-granted-settlement-or-citizenship#citizenship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Home Office Data.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>London is a popular destination for expats with over 71,000 people born in the USA now residing there, <a href=\"https:\/\/trustforlondon.org.uk\/data\/country-of-birth-population\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the 2021 census<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thanksgiving dates back to 1621 when the European settlers (the pilgrims) and the Native Americans ate together at the end of the harvest season.
