Mohamed Salah was once again dropped to the bench by Arne Slot when Liverpool faced Leeds United on December 6.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Salah was unhappy in midweek<\/a> when he was spotted on the bench in the build-up to the 1-1 draw against Sunderland.<\/p>\n

With Saturday\u2019s action the Reds\u2019 third game in just six days, there was some expectation that the 33-year-old would return to the eleven, if for no other reason than some players may have needed a rest.<\/p>\n

However, Salah was benched against Leeds<\/a> yet again, while a couple more stars also lost their place in the starting line-up.<\/p>\n

Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch pivot praised vs Leeds United<\/p>\n

Milos Kerkez was back in at left-back ahead of Andy Robertson, while Conor Bradley returned from injury to get the nod ahead of Joe Gomez, who has been playing with a knock.<\/p>\n

Further forward, Hugo Ekitike looked sharp<\/a> after being selected over Alexander Isak, and Curtis Jones<\/a> came into the midfield ahead of Alexis Mac Allister<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While he may not be the flashiest footballer, Jones has shown fight<\/a> and passion when he is handed a chance by Slot.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s meeting was no different, and his performance matched his energy, seeing several fans highlight the new-look midfield partnership of Ryan Gravenberch and the Englishman.<\/p>\n

One fan stated: \u201cReally enjoyed the Jones\/Gravenberch pivot, which provided security to Kerkez and Bradley.<\/p>\n

Alexis Mac Allister has had a pretty underwhelming season at Anfield so far.<\/p>\n

After Sunderland, RTK suggested Mac Allister should be dropped for Jones<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a move that seemed to pay off as Liverpool looked much more solid in midfield and Leeds had a hard time getting in behind to get at their centre-backs, who are clearly lacking confidence this season.<\/p>\n

Jesse Marsch has suggested that Mac Allister is underrated<\/a> by many, and to some extent, he might have a point based on his 2024\/25 season.<\/p>\n

But the South American has shown very little in recent weeks to suggest he should be starting every week.<\/p>\n
