A series of weak occluded fronts will continue to drift across the country, producing scattered showers. These will be <strong>most frequent across western areas<\/strong>, including Wales, northwest England, western Scotland and Northern Ireland, although the <strong>brisk westerly winds<\/strong> mean some showers will be blown further eastwards.<\/p>\n<p>Cloud cover will remain extensive, but <strong>brighter spells<\/strong> will break through during the afternoon, particularly across central and eastern England. Northeast Scotland may also experience <strong>gusts up to 50 mph<\/strong> later in the day. Temperatures remain <strong>mild for early December<\/strong>, reaching <strong>9-13\u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flood warnings remain in force<\/strong> across parts of southern England and south Wales, where saturated ground and elevated river levels leave localised flooding possible, particularly near riverbanks and low-lying routes. <strong>Large waves<\/strong> are also expected along southern coasts.<\/p>\n<p>A wetter, milder trend returns on Sunday<\/p>\n<p>Showers will continue into Saturday evening but will gradually fade, leaving most areas dry overnight. Winds will ease and clearer intervals will allow <strong>patches of mist and fog<\/strong> to form by Sunday morning. A <strong>warm front<\/strong> will push in from the southwest during the morning, bringing <strong>heavy rain<\/strong> to southwest England, Wales and southern England. This rain will <strong>spread north and east<\/strong>, reaching England, Wales and Northern Ireland and then southern Scotland by the afternoon, where it may turn <strong>persistent<\/strong>. Brighter spells may develop across the southwest by late afternoon. Temperatures will again be <strong>mild at 8-14\u00b0C<\/strong>, driven by a moist and warm south-westerly airflow.<\/p>\n<p>Powerful Atlantic system set to hit: warnings expected<\/p>\n<p>Monday remains unsettled, with a mix of sunshine and scattered heavy showers feeding in from the west. Some of these may turn <strong>thundery with a chance of hail<\/strong>, particularly along southern and western coasts. Northern and eastern areas are likely to see the best of the bright spells, though it will stay <strong>blustery nationwide<\/strong>. Although rainfall may turn more intermittent during Tuesday daytime, <strong>further heavy bursts are still expected<\/strong>. Totals will vary across the region, but <strong>20-40mm is likely for many<\/strong>, with <strong>60-80mm possible over high ground<\/strong> such as Dartmoor and upland areas of South Wales.
