It cites China as well as Japan, South Korea and India as countries with which collaboration will also be essential.<\/p>\n<p>The pitch for strategic tech alliances with like-minded countries \u2014 to team up on research and generate greater business opportunities for the bloc\u2019s companies \u2014 comes in stark contrast to growing calls for a move toward protectionism.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/12830142-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6535749\"  \/>The strategy is more defensive on China, stating that the EU will seek to maintain its \u201cleadership in promoting secure and trusted 5G networks globally\u201d \u2014 essentially a nod to excluding Chinese vendors such as Huawei. | Mukhriz Hazim\/EFE via EPA<\/p>\n<p>For Europe, \u201cbusiness as usual is no option,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/30d6f79f-d1ee-49dc-bff5-719f18c1a9e5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote Marietje Schaake<\/a> earlier this year.
