Just ask Hull FC winger Harvey Barron.

After all, it was only last year when Hull were into pre-season training, having just endured their worst Super League season to date and one of their worst seasons in their entire 160-year history. They won just three games all year and only avoided the wooden spoon on points difference.

But now, 12 months on, it’s a different picture. Hull finished seventh in 2025, winning 15 games in all competitions and just missing out on the Super League play-offs.

Change has been the word – from ownership to the playing squad, with eight more new players added this term – and while the club has made some big strides, they’re only scratching the surface of what they believe they can achieve.

That’s the motivation now, with confidence and pride restored, and while there’s a burning desire to get to the next level, there’s also appreciation for where they’ve come from in what has, in reality, been a short space of time.

“You look at where we are now compared to that dreaded 2024 year – it was pretty dull then but to where we all are now, it’s great,” Barron, speaking to Hull Live, explained. “We had a much better season but in saying that, we were all gutted that we didn’t make the play-offs. That’s an absolute minimum for us this season that we get in them.

“I think the team is unbelievable for this season, especially compared to where we were a couple of years ago. That’s a big shout-out to the people above, but we’ve definitely got a team now to go challenge and see what happens.

“We’ve got a solid base on the spine. We’ve got Jake (Arthur) coming in, but there’s Prycey (Will Pryce), Aidan (Sezer), Amir (Bourouh) and John (Asiata), who were all here last year.

“We’ve got a lot of players here who know the system and who are the core of the team and then we’ve added some quality around it. We expect to be competing for that six. We want to play the best – we’ll all be up for it and we can’t wait to get going.”

And while new recruits and a settled spine give optimism, Barron, who had the best season of his young career, is also buoyed by what’s coming through the system. Making his mark alongside his good friends Davy Litten and Lewis Martin, the young Hull-born trio shone in the back line and have now all got starting three-quarter shirts for next season.

“I came through with Davy, and Lew is just a year younger – it’s worked out pretty well for us,” Barron added. “We’re all excited – we all love this club. It’s given a lot to us, not only as players but as people as well.

“We’re all happy to wear the badge every time we get it and we’re all grateful that we can play for this club. We’re ready to try and get to that next level now and we’ll help each other along the way. It should be another exciting year.”

Hull FC are targeting more growth in 2026. 07:10, 07 Dec 2025Updated 11:37, 07 Dec 2025 Hull FC’s…

[4102
125071,115424,4151,6531,79,16,15
0":"post-617884","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-harvey-barron","9":"tag-hull-fc","10":"tag-rugby","11":"tag-rugby-league","12":"tag-sports","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
