It’ll also, as a result, decrease the amount of memory required to run and reduce GPU processing times.

So, in short, it’ll produce a cleaner image quicker with less memory – all things, we can agree, sound like positives overall.

Sony also seems to be aware that some games have been suffering with artifacting issues, and so it’s built a tool which can help developers detect those issues quicker. The theory being, we suppose, that if the problems are easier to find they can be fixed must faster.

The downside to all this is it sounds like existing games will need to be patched to take advantage of the new features, so you’ll be relying on the support of your favourite developers yet again.

However, if it’s able to get the tech into the hands of Rockstar as early as possible, then there’s every chance GTA 6 may ship with these features at launch. And that’s going to sell a lot of PS5 Pro consoles, isn’t it?

[source youtube.com, via thegamepost.com]

See Also

As the Editor of Push Square, Sammy has over 15 years of experience analysing the world of PlayStation, from PS3 through PS5 and everything in between.
