The Met Office<\/a> has issued a yellow weather warning<\/a> for rain for Greater Manchester<\/a>.<\/p>\n The alert will come into effect at midnight on Monday, 8 December, and last until 3pm on Tuesday, 9 December.<\/p>\n The UK’s national weather service predicts that “outbreaks of rain will become persistent and heavy on Tuesday morning, before clearing into the afternoon.”<\/p>\n They add: “Accumulations of 20-40 mm are likely over some hills, with up to 80 mm possible over high ground in Cumbria<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Given the saturated nature of the ground, this is likely to lead to some flooding in places and transport disruption. Rain will also be accompanied by strengthening south to south-westerly winds, with gusts in excess of 60 mph possible over high ground, which may exacerbate impacts, especially on routes across the Pennines.”<\/p>\n The heavy rainfall could bring some flooding and travel disruption to the affected areas.<\/p>\n Regions and local authorities affected:<\/strong>North East England<\/p>\n North West England<\/p>\n Yorkshire & Humber<\/p>\n The Met Office has issued the following advice to people living in these areas:<\/p>\n The outlook for much of December remains unsettled, with further areas of low pressure expected to bring more wet and windy weather.<\/p>\n While it’s too early to provide details for Christmas<\/a>, early speculation suggests snow could fall across half of the country<\/a> from 20 December onwards.<\/p>\n Weather warnings have also been issued<\/a> for parts of southwest England, parts of Wales<\/a> and Northern Ireland<\/a> over the next few days.<\/p>\n\n
