{"id":618349,"date":"2025-12-07T17:30:25","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T17:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/618349\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T17:30:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T17:30:25","slug":"reading-school-visited-by-prince-edward-duke-of-edinburgh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/618349\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading School visited by Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Reading School, a selective state grammar school for boys based in central Reading, welcomed His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh on Friday, November 28, as part of the school&#8217;s commemorations marking its 900th year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Prince Edward is the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and was granted the Duke of Edinburgh title in 2023 by his brother, King Charles III.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Reading School told the Chronicle that the royal visit &#8220;marked a significant milestone&#8221; in their history and &#8220;underscored the vital importance&#8221; of their commitment to &#8220;delivering exceptional, inclusive education for local children&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>HRH the Duke of Edinburgh visiting Reading School (Image: Reading School)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The school highlighted Prince Edward&#8217;s own &#8220;longstanding commitment to championing young people&#8221;, and said the visit from His Royal Highness had &#8220;reminded staff, students, parents and guests that strong community partnerships sit at the heart of all that is good about [Reading School]&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  During the visit, Prince Edward observed local primary school children taking part in the school&#8217;s social impact programme, Future Stories, which aims to &#8220;remove barriers&#8221; and make it possible for children &#8220;from all backgrounds&#8221; to benefit from the opportunities provided by Reading School.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>HRH the Duke of Edinburgh visiting Reading School (Image: Reading School)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Future Stories programme sees Reading School students work alongside primary pupils in activities designed to &#8220;raise aspirations, build confidence and broaden access to high-quality learning opportunities&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Prince also visited creative design and Mandarin lessons, and had a chance to meet with Reading School&#8217;s Ukrainian students, members of the Combined Cadet Force, National Badminton Team winners, and the Street Dance Mentoring team.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>HRH the Duke of Edinburgh visiting Reading School (Image: Reading School)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Dr Chris Evans, headteacher at Reading School, said they were &#8220;honoured&#8221;
