A Merseyside pub has made a promise to its customers after making an “extremely” disappointing announcement. The Blue Anchor, found in Aintree<\/a>, has been hosting its Family Winter Wonderland experience this weekend.<\/a><\/p>\n Found on School Lane, the event includes a Santa\u2019s grotto<\/a>, fairground rides, pluck-a-duck, swing chairs and a penalty shoot-out. Entry for the event cost \u00a310 per child, and this gave families \u201cunlimited rides and fun\u201d.<\/p>\n The event ran as planned on Saturday, December 6. However, today, the pub said it had no other choice but to cancel the event.<\/p>\n Posting online, the team said: \u201cWe are extremely disappointed, but due to the bad weather<\/a> we are having to close the Winter Wonderland. Most of the rides and inflatables are not covered, and with rain forecast all day, we have had to make this decision.<\/p>\n \u201cBut, we will not be put off doing these events and will be back bigger and better in spring and summer.\u201d<\/p>\n Today’s weather forecast for Liverpool predicts a high of 12\u00b0C to 13\u00b0C and a low of around 7\u00b0C to 9\u00b0C, with periods of light rain and gusty winds throughout the day, according to the Met Office.<\/p>\n The Blue Anchor\u2019s Christmas event isn\u2019t the only one to close this weekend because of the weather. On Friday, December 5, Santa\u2019s Secret Forest was temporarily closed due to high winds.<\/p>\n Posting online, the team said: \u201cFor everyone\u2019s safety, Santa\u2019s Secret Forest will be closed today due to exceptionally high winds.<\/p>\n \u201cOur light trail and Christmas Hub rely on the surrounding woodland being safe to operate, and after consulting with our safety team, we must pause today\u2019s sessions.<\/p>\n \u201cAll affected guests will be contacted directly with the next steps, including ticket transfer options and support from our team. Thank you for your understanding. The safety of your family, our staff, and our elves always comes first.\u201d<\/p>\n There are plenty of other Christmas events taking place in and around Liverpool this festive period.<\/p>\n From markets to pantomimes, families can enjoy a variety of Christmas activities this year.
