F Lite was developed in partnership with AI startup Fal.ai and trained using 64 Nvidia H100 GPUs over the course of two months, according to Freepik.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F Lite joins a small and growing collection of generative AI models trained on licensed data.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote twitter-tweet is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve been secretly working on this for months! It\u2019s frequently developed using massive amounts of content \u2014 including copyrighted content \u2014 from public sources around the web. Most companies developing these models argue\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ogc.harvard.edu\/pages\/copyright-and-fair-use#:~:text=Fair%20use%20is%20the%20right,law%20is%20designed%20to%20foster.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">fair use<\/a>\u00a0shields their practice of using copyrighted data for training without compensating the owners. Many creators and IP rights holders disagree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Freepik has made two flavors of F Lite available, standard and texture, both of which were trained on an internal dataset of around 80 million images. The goal was to make a model openly available so that developers could tailor and improve it, according to the company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> That being said, running F Lite is no easy feat. The model requires a GPU with at least 24GB of VRAM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other companies developing media-generating models on licensed data include <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/04\/23\/adobe-claims-its-new-image-generation-model-is-its-best-yet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adobe<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/03\/13\/bria-lands-new-funding-for-ai-models-trained-on-licensed-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bria<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/09\/25\/getty-images-launches-an-ai-powered-image-generator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Getty Images<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/03\/12\/moonvalley-releases-a-video-generator-it-claims-was-trained-on-licensed-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moonvalley<\/a>, and Shutterstock.
