Chelsea couldn’t breathe for 90 minutes, and it caused a Liverpool implosion on Saturday night.

While Daniel Farke passed that test of harnessing LS11’s power, he still needs to prove that his newfound pragmatism can bring about an uptick on the road.

A significant test awaits in a week’s time away to Brentford. Keith Andrews has surprised me greatly with how he’s settled the Bees down after a turbulent summer. But, for Leeds, this represents an opportunity to close down sides that were looking to build a gap to the bottom three.

The Bees have proven to be exactly what Leeds have built in the last few games: horrible to play against at home, physically imposing, and direct from back to front.

Brentford handed massive blow for Leeds United with Kevin Schade suspended

A core part of the Bees being so far safe from relegation concerns has been their dynamic front line. It seems inevitable that whenever they lose a star player, there’s someone primed to take the reins, especially up front.

Andre Gray was replaced by Scott Hogan. Hogan was replaced by Neal Maupay. Maupay was replaced by Ollie Watkins. Watkins was replaced by Ivan Toney. Toney replaced by Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. Those two were replaced by Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade this season.

Brentford forward Kevin Schade will miss the game against Leeds United. (REUTERS/Hannah Mckay)

Thiago has been the goalscoring star with 11 goals already, but has been complemented well by Schade on three goals and one assist.

The speedy German, though, won’t be available against us. He picked up his fifth booking of the season in Brentford’s 2-0 loss at Spurs. It means he faces an automatic one-match ban.

Predominantly playing off the left wing, Schade’s absence hands Andrews and Brentford a blow and a different task ahead for Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon.

Schade has started in every Premier League game since being on the bench on the opening day. As a result, proving to be a core presence in Andrew’s attack. According to FBRef, Schade ranks second for xG (3.4) in Brentford’s squad, and third for total shots (19).

Leeds, in 16th, sit four points behind 14th-placed Brentford, who have lost four of their last six. But importantly, their two wins in that period both came at the Gtech Community Stadium against Newcastle United and Burnley.

Read more: Unpopular Leeds United man is outperforming Liverpool’s £116m flop.

Leeds United’s opportunity to build on their revival sees them put to the test away at Brentford next…

[8814
9310,748,25764,393,4884,37196,1860,2922,142361,142362,16,15
0":"post-619052","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-brentford","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-elland-road","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-kevin-schade","14":"tag-leeds","15":"tag-leeds-united","16":"tag-lufc","17":"tag-the-whites","18":"tag-uk","19":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
