{"id":619089,"date":"2025-12-08T01:46:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T01:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/619089\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T01:46:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T01:46:21","slug":"alarm-bells-on-chinas-threat-to-eu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/619089\/","title":{"rendered":"Alarm bells on China\u2019s threat to EU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Analysts and European politicians are ramping up warnings that China\u2019s export-heavy economy puts the continent at risk.<\/p>\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron, who just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/chinas-xi-meets-frances-macron-southwestern-chengdu-2025-12-05\/\" class=\"styles_linkEmbed__SNmaX\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">visited China<\/a>, said the EU faces \u201ca <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/monde\/europe\/la-chine-vient-percuter-le-coeur-du-modele-industriel-europeen-previent-emmanuel-macron-2203223\" class=\"styles_linkEmbed__SNmaX\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">question of life or death<\/a>\u201d over its severe trade deficit with Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>A stronger Chinese export sector is expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/business\/2025\/12\/07\/china-bets-big-on-exports-but-will-europes-economy-pay-the-price\" class=\"styles_linkEmbed__SNmaX\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">lower the eurozone\u2019s GDP by 0.5%<\/a> by 2029, according to a recent Goldman Sachs estimate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany countries are frustrated by China\u2019s strategy, which is squeezing out their own manufacturing sectors and export opportunities,\u201d The Wall Street Journal\u2019s Greg Ip wrote. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/economy\/trade\/chinas-growth-is-coming-at-the-rest-of-the-worlds-expense-99420396?mod=author_content_page_1_pos_1\" class=\"styles_linkEmbed__SNmaX\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">None has a solution<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Macron floated tariffs against Beijing, but getting other EU countries onboard could prove difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEurope has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-12-06\/jpmorgan-ceo-jamie-dimon-says-europe-has-a-real-problem\" class=\"styles_linkEmbed__SNmaX\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a real problem<\/a>,\u201d JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2e2a2616ac64eab22e6b1dbd133aff52282d7bcf-2048x1860.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"726\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"high\" class=\"styles_imageEmbed__QsLwb styles_fullContentArea__zXct_\" style=\"color:transparent\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Analysts and European politicians are ramping up warnings that China\u2019s export-heavy economy puts the continent at risk.
