The Welsh Government has announced an additional \u00a32.5 million to support the creative industries in Wales.<\/p>\n

The funding will provide fresh investment in the film and television sector, while also supporting the publishing industry as it continues to face economic challenges and seeks to boost revenue generation.<\/p>\n

More than 3,500 businesses currently operate in the creative sectors supported by Creative Wales, employing over 35,000 people. The latest statistics show the sector generated an annual turnover of \u00a31.5 billion in 2023, marking a rise of more than 10 per cent on the previous year.<\/p>\n

This announcement follows a \u00a32 million investment earlier this year in Cardiff-based production company Bad Wolf to deliver two new high-end television series, expected to generate around \u00a330 million for the Welsh economy.<\/p>\n

Since the launch of Creative Wales, the Welsh Government has invested \u00a333.8 million across 70 film, TV, and media projects, generating more than \u00a3419 million for Wales\u2019 economy.<\/p>\n

Wales\u2019 creative industries were recently highlighted at the Wales Investment Summit and at the British-Irish Council Summit, where \u2018Creative\u2019 was the central theme.<\/p>\n

Minister for Culture Jack Sargeant said: \u201cThe creative industries are a real success story for Wales, and we\u2019re hugely proud of the talent that exists across the sector. Whether it\u2019s actors, storytellers, musicians, animators or games developers, our creative industries consistently put our nation on the global stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only is the industry an important economic driver for Wales, but we are fostering and upskilling the next generation of creatives by incentivising training and apprenticeship opportunities for our young people, ensuring Wales continues to be a place to enjoy a successful, sustainable career.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are committed to investing in this part of the sector and to nurturing talent, supporting creative businesses and encouraging the creation of high-quality content that stands tall among other countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
