Penny Lancaster<\/a> has revealed she had no warning before her husband Sir Rod Stewart posted a blistering take down of Gregg Wallace<\/a> in her defence last year.<\/p>\n Today speaking on My Life at Christmas<\/a> with Anita Rani, she reflected on the fact that \u2018both of the people\u2019 she called out in her memoir have faced their comeuppance.<\/p>\n \u2018Talk about timing!\u2019 she 54-year-old laughed, still incredulous at how events have unfolded.<\/p>\n One of those people is Mone, a Conservative life peer since 2015, whose assets were frozen following a PPE scandal.<\/p>\n The other is Gregg Wallace, who lost his long-standing MasterChef<\/a> role in July 2025 after a number of behaviour complaints were upheld against him, which he denies. <\/p>\n Wallace dug himself an even deeper hole when he complained that only \u2018middle-class women of a certain age\u2019 had criticised his misogynistic behaviour.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018Talk about stabbing yourself in the foot! Was that his comeback? It just goes to show he\u2019s gone so long without consequences, he doesn\u2019t see what he did wrong,\u2019 Penny said of Gregg\u2019s comment about middle class women of a certain age. <\/p>\n When other women spoke out about Wallace, it was actually her husband, Sir Rod<\/a>, who publicly called him out.<\/p>\n Stewart posted on Instagram<\/a> that Wallace was a \u2018tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully\u2019 who had \u2018humiliated my wife.\u2019<\/p>\n Penny, meanwhile, was serving on jury duty at Chelmsford Crown Court, completely unaware of the post.<\/p>\n Her first reaction was pure shock as her phone<\/a> was off; then as she pulled in to her driveway she saw the floods of text messages.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018Oooooh Jeeeesus!\u2019 I remember thinking,\u2019 she admitted, laughing at the memory.<\/p>\n But she also understood why Rod felt compelled to speak.<\/p>\n She stated that she thought her husband spoke out after reading about other women sharing their negative encounters with Wallace.<\/p>\n \u2018I said, \u201cI wish you had told me, so I could have prepared myself,\u201d\u2018 Penny said. <\/p>\n She wanted to be ready for the attention that would inevitably follow.<\/p>\n Her agent quickly called, asking for her version of events, but she refused to give interviews.<\/p>\n Instead, the star worked directly with the investigating team to ensure her side of the story was properly documented.<\/p>\n Penny expressed that she wished to handle the situation through official channels as opposed to doing press interviews.<\/p>\n Rod\u2019s Instagram post, she believes, showed that she was not alone in facing Wallace.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t It also highlighted that people close to her were willing to defend her publicly.<\/p>\n Penny emphasised that it was still frustrating that the altercation even happened full stop, but it also underscores why these conversations about bullying and accountability are so necessary.<\/p>\n \u2018I hope people learn from it,\u2019 she said. <\/p>\n While she wishes Rod had given her a heads-up about the Instagram post, she appreciated the sentiment \u2013 and it also kick-started more women to speak out.<\/p>\n Looking back, Penny reserves part of her criticism for Wallace\u2019s production team.<\/p>\n She said they allowed him \u2018to carry on that way\u2019 because nobody stepped in to help her back in 2021.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Fans will remember her tearful appearance on Celebrity MasterChef<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n It was an emotional moment that captured the stress and isolation she experienced during filming.<\/p>\n She has now insisted more should have been done to protect her at the time.<\/p>\n The lack of support compounded her sense of frustration and helplessness.<\/p>\n Despite the stress, Lancaster admits she now feels a sense of closure.<\/p>\n Seeing Wallace and Mone face consequences has been both \u2018satisfying and surreal,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n She points out that staying quiet at the time was a strategic choice, not a sign of weakness.<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s about timing and how you handle situations like that,\u2019 she said firmly.<\/p>\n Got a story?<\/strong><\/p>\n If you\u2019ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.uk<\/a> entertainment team by emailing us celebtips@metro.co.uk, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting our Submit Stuff<\/a> page \u2013 we\u2019d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow Arrow![\"Penny](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/PRI_194990458-c0cd.jpg\")
