A man from one part of Merseyside said his street has started to look like the \u2018moon\u2019 after years of neglect by Knowsley<\/a> Council. Jacob Maguire lives in Prescot<\/a> and contacted the Liverpool ECHO after reading a report about parking issues in Litherland, specifically problems around neglected grass verges and footpaths.<\/p>\n In relation to the concerns raised in Litherland<\/a>, the ECHO<\/a> were told delivery vans frequently get stuck in the mud<\/a> and residents have reported slipping up and falling over into puddles.<\/p>\n Jacob said his street<\/a> was experiencing similar problems, adding: \u201cWhere we live in the close there\u2019s a footpath going up towards the park, and the council just left it for years.<\/p>\n \u201cSo now it\u2019s flooded, full of potholes and just really bad. Its worse in winter when there\u2019s more rain, and the ground turns muddy, but also hardens in the freezing cold and becomes slippy.<\/p>\n \u201cThe council are saying they\u2019ve got no money to do a parking access scheme, even though they know it needs doing and nearly every other close, when you look around here, has been done. But ours has just been missed off.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a nightmare, especially at the minute. We can\u2019t even get down to put the bins out.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve even had the council out to look at it but they said they don\u2019t have the funds to do it, but that doesn\u2019t change the fact something needs doing. They haven\u2019t done anything, and it\u2019s been neglected, really.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have about 10 houses in this close and none of us can park by our houses. I mean, some of us have driven up and had to make do for now, but outside, it looks like the moon.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s full of puddles now and then they can freeze over. It\u2019s terrible.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s elderly people who live up here and they can\u2019t walk up, it\u2019s really bad. I really hope the council can sort this, especially for the older people.\u201d<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Knowsley Council<\/a> told the ECHO<\/a>: \u201cWe are aware of the issue on Homer Road and have been in previous contact with the resident.<\/p>\n \u201cThe problem relates specifically to a footpath and grassed area which have been damaged by vehicles driving over them.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are currently looking into upgrading the drainage and making the necessary repairs to the footway and verge.
