Sheffield United<\/a> hope to keep Tom Cannon at the club beyond the January window despite mounting Championship interest, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a> are on the charge in the Championship after what was a disastrous start to the season. After Chris Wilder\u2019s return to the club, just a few months after he was replaced by Rub Selles, SUFC are looking like a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n

Following a statement win against Stoke City<\/a> on Saturday, the Blades have the play-offs in their sights. After four straight wins, Sheffield United<\/a> are eight points away from the top six.<\/p>\n

A big January window approaches for SUFC, and plans have begun in terms of transfers<\/a>. One of which appears to be surrounding striker Tom Cannon, who is set to stay at the club, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Championship clubs have been interested in a move for Cannon, who has made just six starts for SUFC this season. Cannon is yet to find his best form since joining the Blades<\/a> from Leicester City<\/a> for around \u00a310m last January.<\/p>\n

Wilder must have faith that Cannon can return to his best<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a> made a big investment in Cannon last January. They knew they had to strengthen in order to push for promotion, but ultimately it did not pull through for the Blades.<\/p>\n

While Cannon has struggled in the main for SUFC, his quality at this level is well-known. In the first half of last season, he bagged nine goals in a poor Stoke City<\/a> side, which prompted interest in him.<\/p>\n

He had shown his quality back in 2022-23 too while on loan with Preston<\/a> too. Wilder will be well aware of his ability, and it would be no shock if soon enough he gives Cannon a run in the side.<\/p>\n

The former Everton man will be frustrated with how his Sheffield United<\/a> career has gone. However, this show of faith from his manager may just be exactly what he needs to kick on.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a>\u2019s striker options <\/p>\n

Cannon has found himself down the Blades\u2019 pecking order in recent weeks. SUFC have brought in Patrick Bamford<\/a> as a free agent to help bolster Wilder\u2019s attacking options.<\/p>\n

Bamford has already bagged two goals in four appearances for Sheffield United<\/a>. His performances have been very impressive since he made the move back to Yorkshire, following his release from Leeds United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other options for SUFC include last season\u2019s top scorer Tyrese Campbell<\/a>, who looks back to his best under Wilder.
