Across Leeds, mobile speed cameras are in force this week as part of work to reduce the number of accidents on the city’s roads.<\/p>\n

Mobile speed cameras are put in place by the West Yorkshire Police<\/a> Camera Enforcement Unit on behalf of West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership. They are installed in two types of area in Leeds<\/a>: core camera sites and community concern sites.<\/p>\n

A core camera site is an area with a high incidence of both casualties and speeding vehicles, where it is believed a mobile speed camera <\/a>will work to reduce this. A community concern site does not meet these criteria, but has instead been highlighted by local people or a local authority.<\/p>\n

The cameras work by shining a laser on passing vehicles to determine their speed. This works in a variety of light and weather conditions. Here are the camera sites across Leeds this week.<\/p>\n
