Hinton has asked the students and engineers to not give up computer science degrees, despite the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence which is reshaping the coding industry. Speaking to Business Insider in an interview Hinton stressed on the fact that computer science degree is not limited to just programming. “Many people think a CS degree is just programming or something. Obviously, just being a competent mid-level programmer is not going to be a career for much longer, because AI can do that,” he said.Hinton also argued that the discipline teaches foundational skills in systems thinking, mathematics, and problem-solving which will remain relevant for decades to come. “A CS degree will be valuable for quite a long time,” Hinton added.

OpenAI’s Master Plan for India

Along with this, Hinton has also encouraged the middle and high school students to learn coding, likening it to studying Latin in the humanities. “You’re never going to speak Latin, but it’s still useful learning Latin,” said Hinton. He further emphasised that coding is will remain a valuable intellectual exercise even if AI used for automating most of the work. Sharing an advice for aspiring AI researchers and engineers, Hinton mentioned that they should focus on critical thinking and core mathematical skills. “Some skills that are always going to be valuable, like knowing some math, statistics, probability theory, and linear algebra. That’s not knowledge that’s going to disappear,” he said.Geoffrey Hinton declares the winner in ChatGPT vs Google Gemini fightRecently, Hinton revealed that he believes Google is catching up with OpenAI in the artificial intelligence (AI) race. Hinton, a professor emeritus at the University of Toronto and former Google Brain expert, also said he is surprised that Google took this long to surpass its competitors. In an interview with Business Insider, when discussing Google’s position relative to OpenAI, Hinton said, “I think it’s actually more surprising than it’s taken this long for Google to overtake OpenAI. I think that right now they’re beginning to overtake it”This declaration follows the widely praised launch of Google’s Gemini 3, an update that many in the tech world believe has elevated the company above OpenAI’s GPT-5.

Geoffrey Hinton, widely known as the ‘Godfather of AI’ has once again shared an advice for engineers and…

[3163
323,192986,1942,192985,80034,104602,192984,53,16,15
0":"post-619818","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-artificial-intelligence","8":"tag-ai","9":"tag-ai-advancements","10":"tag-artificial-intelligence","11":"tag-coding-education","12":"tag-computer-science-degree","13":"tag-geoffrey-hinton","14":"tag-godfather-of-ai","15":"tag-technology","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
