Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> continue their uphill battle through the 2025\/26 campaign on Tuesday night as they face Watford away<\/a> from home. SWFC will be looking for just their second win of the campaign away at a side that has just lost once on home turf this season.<\/p>\n

Henrik Pedersen<\/a> continues to work with a threadbare squad, despite a pair of free agent signings. Liam Cooper<\/a> has come in, with Nathan Redmond<\/a> following him through the doors and making his debut against Preston<\/a> North End.<\/p>\n

The one-time England winger was on the bench for the abandoned Blackburn Rovers<\/a> game on Saturday too. However, it has now been confirmed a groin injury will keep him out against Watford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Star<\/a>, Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> boss Pedersen was optimistic the injury was nothing serious but confirmed his absence. He said: \u201cRedmond is out. He felt something in his groin and he is out tomorrow. He spoke about it and couldn\u2019t train today [Monday]. I think he will be back soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

One in, one out for Sheffield Wednesday<\/a><\/p>\n

It is certainly a blow for Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> to lose Redmond, even if it is only short-term. Thankfully, Pedersen confirmed he could have one long-term absentee back in the fray for Watford<\/a> in his place.<\/p>\n

The Owls have not been able to call upon defensive midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah since the first day of the season. He scored in that clash with Leicester City<\/a> but also picked up an injury that has kept him out since.<\/p>\n

However, the 30-year-old has been back in training and could be in the travelling squad. Pedersen said:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has trained in the last days. Maybe he will be part of the squad tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chalobah\u2019s return brings some much-needed good news for SWFC. Injuries have wreaked havoc this season, so they will be glad to have an established senior player back in the ranks.<\/p>\n

Pedersen and co will have to be cautious with his return though. Chalobah has had setbacks along the way, so his minutes and work load will have to be carefully managed.<\/p>\n

Fingers crossed over Nathan Redmond concern<\/p>\n

Pedersen seems optimistic that Redmond\u2019s groin issue is nothing serious. Given how injuries have been for Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, they will have to hope bad luck doesn\u2019t strike again and cast him out for longer than expected.<\/p>\n

SWFC fans would argue it typical for them to see one of just two sanctioned free agent signings<\/a> cast to the sidelines for a spell.<\/p>\n

Redmond was signed after proving himself as a suitable character for their struggling group. His experience at the top of the game can see him become an influential figure within the squad, whether he\u2019s fit or not.<\/p>\n

His pedigree at the top could make him a standout in terms of quality too though.
