These are the shocking aerial pictures of the devastating house explosion in Bloxwich.<\/p>\n

Two men suffered serious burns following a fire on Shrewsbury Close last night, Monday, April 28.<\/p>\n

Scores of fire crews and ambulances were dispatched amid the blaze. Pictures show how the fire ripped through a two-storey mid-terraced house and spread to neighbouring properties.<\/p>\n

The shocking images showed property roofs almost completely destroyed by the fire.<\/p>\n

It emerged that several residents had got themselves to safety before emergency services arrived. While others were evacuated as a precaution.<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> spokeswoman said: \u201cOn arrival, crews found one man who did not wish to be assessed and was discharged at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe received a second call at 11.31pm to Lower Lichfield<\/a> Street in Willenhall.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn arrival, crews found two men who had suffered burn injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first had suffered critical injuries and, following advanced trauma care from medics, was conveyed under emergency conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital<\/a> in Birmingham<\/a> with MERIT travelling on board to continue treatment en route.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmbulance staff treated the second man for serious injuries before conveying him to the same hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fire service said in a statement: “Staffordshire<\/a> and West Midlands Fire Control started to receive multiple 999 calls reporting an incident in Shrewsbury Close, Bloxwich.<\/p>\n

“Nine fire crews, our Technical Rescue Unit, a hydraulic aerial platform and a drone were mobilised.<\/p>\n

“Our first resources arrived within five minutes of being mobilised.<\/p>\n

“They were met with a challenging scene \u2013 a severe fire involving an extensively damaged two-storey, mid-terraced house. The fire had also affected neighbouring properties.<\/p>\n

“Several residents had got themselves to safety before we arrived, and others were evacuated by emergency services as a precaution.<\/p>\n

“Firefighters led one man to safety from a property. He is understood to have been assessed and discharged at the scene by the ambulance service.<\/p>\n

“A local church provided shelter, and volunteers from the Red Cross also offered support.<\/p>\n

“Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reels and main jets to tackle the fire, which had been extinguished by around 11pm.<\/p>\n

“Colleagues from the police also attended, as well as the council and utility companies.<\/p>\n

“We expect to have a presence at the scene throughout the night.<\/p>\n

“Our investigators will be working to establish the cause.<\/p>\n

“We would like to thank local people for their patience and understanding as we continue our work at the scene.”<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Police<\/a> spokesperson added: “We were called following a fire at an address in Shrewsbury Close, Bloxwich, at around 9.30pm yesterday (Monday).<\/p>\n

“Two men were later found in Willenhall with burn injuries. They were taken to hospital where they remain.<\/p>\n
