The comment was made after a series of heavy duty items were seemingly dumped on a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/bootle\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bootle<\/a> housing estate, including a washing machine and an office chair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The latest <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/older-people-left-deal-huge-32983410\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">fly tipping episode<\/a> was flagged in a local <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/facebook\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> group, with the poster appearing to take a humorous swipe at the person responsible, writing: \u201cFew new additions to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/sefton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Sefton<\/a> Estate. Ideal set up for someone after that \u2018outdoor living\u2019 experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cWashing machine is nearby so just need a few more things and it\u2019s ready to move straight in!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Behind the humour was a genuine concern about the level of fly tipping incidents in the south Sefton area, and this was picked up in the comments. One person responded to the post, copying in a local councillor known to be active on waste dumping issues.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765230261_601_0_Rubbish-dumped-on-Buckley-Way-in-Bootle.jpg\" alt=\"Rubbish dumped n Bootle\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Rubbish dumped n Bootle(Image: Handout)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">They wrote: \u201cJoe Johnson, see all you do and still the estate looks like a jumble sale gone wrong, and the green bin being used as a normal bin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cThis estate was never like this, always pride, now it\u2019s a s**t show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The Liverpool <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">ECHO<\/a> has reported on several incidents of fly tipping in south Sefton, including the illegal dumping of countless heavy duty items \u2013 fridges, couches, sofas, mattresses, building materials \u2013 dumped onto people\u2019s streets and cast into entries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Fly-tipping or the illegal disposal of household, industrial, commercial or other waste is a serious criminal offence and costs local authorities tens of millions of pounds. Figures from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs show there were 3,903 fly-tipping incidents in Sefton in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765230262_929_0_Rubbish-dumped-on-Buckley-Way-in-Bootle.jpg\" alt=\"Rubbish dumped on Buckley Way in Bootle\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Rubbish dumped on Buckley Way in Bootle(Image: Handout)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Sefton Council said it is planning to step up its fight against fly-tipping, dog fouling and other environmental offences, by increasing the maximum for fixed penalty notice (FPN) fines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The local authority is proposing to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/huge-increase-fines-target-criminals-32963217\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">raise the maximum penalty<\/a> for fly-tipping from \u00a3400 to \u00a31,000 and doubling the maximum penalty for littering from \u00a375 to \u00a3150. Maximum penalties for household waste duty of care breaches would rise from \u00a3200 to \u00a3500.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">In addition, the council have just launched a new project which will introduce a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/new-cctv-catch-disgusting-criminal-32905229\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">pilot scheme of CCTV cameras<\/a>, aiming to deter potential fly-tippers and gather the necessary evidence to prosecute those who continue to blight its communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Last month, Sefton Council\u2019s street cleansing management has been supporting and promoting the new Keep Britain Tidy (KBT) campaign (November 2025), aimed at combating fly tipping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The local authority said its relationship with KBT is key to its own ambition of improving the cleanliness of the borough, and was recently awarded a \u00a327,500 grant for new chewing gum removal machinery.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765230264_496_0_Rubbish-dumped-on-Buckley-Way-in-Bootle.jpg\" alt=\"Rubbish dumped n Bootle\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Rubbish dumped n Bootle(Image: Handout)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">However, the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">ECHO<\/a> still receives weekly calls about fly tipping in Bootle, and spoken to several people who said it is a blight on their communities. One local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">ECHO<\/a> they have become increasing frustrated with fly tipping in their local area, adding: \u201cI\u2019m sick of taking [other people\u2019s] rubbish the tip myself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201c[I\u2019m] sick of the confrontations I\u2019m having with idiots who somehow become the victims when you pull them up.
