Oscar Cortes admits he can’t focus on “things that are beyond my control” amid talk he could be set for a return to Rangers<\/a> in January.<\/p>\n The wide man was sent out on loan to Spanish second tier side Sporting Gijon last summer, just weeks after sealing his permanent switch to Ibrox from Lens for \u00a34million. The Colombia international has struggled for minutes with the Asturias-based side, having started in just two of his seven appearances.<\/p>\n Reports from Spain had claimed Gijon would be willing to terminate their loan agreement with Rangers early<\/a> if it was mutually beneficial for all parties but Cortes <\/a>himself has vowed to try to force his way into manager Borja Jimenez’s plans. Speaking to El Comericio<\/a>, he said: “I’m focused on the team, on what’s happening here, and other things are beyond my control.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mindset is to stay here and be with the team. To give my best every day and in every match so I can play. My focus is here, at Sporting, with my teammates.<\/p>\n “Perhaps I’ve had fewer minutes than some of my teammates, but I’m also motivated by the work the team has done. The group is doing very well, and maybe that’s where I need to work a little harder. I have to keep working and training hard so that more opportunities can open up for me.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Rangers are set to be without Wolves loanee Nasser Djiga <\/a>for at least five matches over the festive period after the centre back was officially called up to the Burkina Faso squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n The tournament in Morocco gets under way on December 21, with the final taking place on January 26.
