{"id":621309,"date":"2025-12-09T03:09:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T03:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/621309\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T03:09:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T03:09:19","slug":"ukraines-allies-say-efforts-to-end-russias-war-at-critical-moment-russia-ukraine-war-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/621309\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine\u2019s allies say efforts to end Russia\u2019s war at \u2018critical moment\u2019 | Russia-Ukraine war News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">Zelenskyy says European allies ready to share their response to Trump\u2019s peace plan with US on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Published On 9 Dec 20259 Dec 2025<\/p>\n<p>Click here to share on social media<\/p>\n<p>share2<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-share__social-text\">Share<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s European allies have agreed to increase their support for Ukraine and put more economic pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin as they say efforts to end Moscow\u2019s \u201cbarbaric\u201d war are at a \u201ccritical moment\u201d, according to Downing Street.<\/p>\n<p>The statement from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he would share Ukraine\u2019s version of a 20-point plan on Tuesday, as both Ukraine and Russia continue to refine a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/11\/21\/trumps-28-point-ukraine-plan-in-full-what-it-means-could-it-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">28-point plan<\/a> put forward by US President Donald Trump last month to end the war.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Stories list of 4 itemsend of list<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mood of the Americans, in principle, is for finding a compromise,\u201d Zelenskyy told reporters in London after a meeting with the leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom on Monday. \u201cOf course, there are complex issues related to the territory, and a compromise has not yet been found there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The London meeting kicked off a busy two days of diplomacy for Zelenskyy as European allies scramble to show their support for the Ukrainian leader as he continues to face public criticism from the US president.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said on Sunday he was \u201cdisappointed\u201d with Zelenskyy, accusing him of not having read the latest proposals backed by the US.<\/p>\n<p>Following the meeting in London, Zelenskyy said that the leaders of Finland, Italy, Poland, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Turkiye also joined a call to express their support.<\/p>\n<p>He then travelled to Brussels, where he met with European Union and NATO leaders before travelling on to Italy to meet with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-arc-image-770 wp-image-4161210\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/AA-20251208-39928642-39928631-RUSSIAN_AERIAL_ATTACK_ON_ZAPORIZHZHIA-1765246683.jpg\" alt=\"A view of the destruction after Russian forces struck residential neighborhoods with guided aerial bombs in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine on December 08, 2025. The new US document is critical of European leaders, sceptical of NATO expansion, supports far-right parties on the continent, and seeks better and stable relations with Russia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe adjustments that we see correspond in many ways to our vision,\u201d\u00a0Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told state television reporter Pavel Zarubin on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Peskov also said it was encouraging that the new strategy pledged to end \u201cthe perception\u2026 of the NATO military alliance as a perpetually expanding alliance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Russian forces continued to launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/12\/9\/russia-ukraine-war-list-of-key-events-day-1384\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deadly attacks<\/a> across Ukraine, killing at least four civilians in Ukraine\u2019s Donetsk region and five civilians in Ukraine\u2019s Kharkiv region since Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s Ministry of Defence also claimed on Monday that Moscow\u2019s troops had seized the Ukrainian villages of Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhia region and Chervone in the Donetsk region, according to the state-owned TASS news agency.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian monitoring site DeepState reported that Russian troops advanced near the embattled town of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, saying Russian troops have seized Lysivka, Sukhyi Yar, Hnativka, Rih and Novopavlivka, and advanced in the towns of Siversk and Myrnohrad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Zelenskyy says European allies ready to share their response to Trump\u2019s peace plan with US on Tuesday.
