{"id":621369,"date":"2025-12-09T03:49:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T03:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/621369\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T03:49:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T03:49:13","slug":"garbage-my-bloody-valentine-to-play-2026-teenage-cancer-trust-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/621369\/","title":{"rendered":"Garbage, My Bloody Valentine to Play 2026 Teenage Cancer Trust Shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-cure\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-cure\" data-tag=\"the-cure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Cure<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/robert-smith\/\" id=\"auto-tag_robert-smith\" data-tag=\"robert-smith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Smith<\/a> has enlisted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/garbage\/\" id=\"auto-tag_garbage\" data-tag=\"garbage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Garbage<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/my-bloody-valentine\/\" id=\"auto-tag_my-bloody-valentine\" data-tag=\"my-bloody-valentine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Bloody Valentine<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/mogwai\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mogwai\" data-tag=\"mogwai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mogwai<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/chvrches\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chvrches\" data-tag=\"chvrches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chvrches<\/a>, and more for the 2026 Teenage Cancer Trust benefit concert series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSmith was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-cure-robert-smith-teenage-cancer-trust-lineup-1235299176\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tapped to curate the 2026 lineup<\/a>, taking over the role <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/roger-daltrey-the-who-eddie-vedder-robert-plant-teenage-cancer-concerts-1234942012\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from co-founder Roger Daltrey<\/a>, after the Who singer stepped down last year after 24 years. The week-long event will take place in late March and will feature a mix of concerts and stand-up comedy shows at London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe concert series will kick off March 23 with Elbow and Mrcy, while the March 25 gig will boast Mogwai, Craven Faults, and special guest Annika Kilkenny. Manic Street Preachers and the Joy Formidable will perform on March 24; My Bloody Valentine and Chvrches (doing a \u201cstripped back\u201d set) will take the stage March 27; Garbage and Placebo (also doing a \u201cstripped back\u201d set) will play March 28; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/wolf-alice\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wolf-alice\" data-tag=\"wolf-alice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wolf Alice<\/a> and Nil\u00fcfer Yanya will close out the series on March 29.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe comedy night, scheduled for March 24, will feature sets from Maisie Adam, Bridget Christie, Jack Dee, Andy Hamilton, Dom Joly, Miles Jupp, Athena Kugblenu, Stewart Lee, and Dara \u00d3 Briain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tTickets for all shows will go on sale Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. local time. As Daltrey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/roger-daltrey-looks-back-at-tommy-249072\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained to Rolling Stone<\/a> in 2013, the organization\u2019s central mission \u201chas nothing to do with medicine,\u201d but connecting young people battling cancer with each other. \u201cIt\u2019s a shame that the medical profession doesn\u2019t realize that being comfortable psychologically by being with your own age group has an enormous effect on how people survive treatment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDaltrey has helped raise over $40 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2000, with the annual concert series one of the organization\u2019s highlights. Past iterations have featured performances from the Who, Noel Gallagher\u2019s High Flying Birds, Squeeze, the Chemical Brothers, Oasis, Coldplay, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, the Cure, Madness, and the Stereophonics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tOf taking over curation responsibilities for the series, Smith previously said, \u201cTeenage Cancer Trust does the most fantastic work, and it is a great honor \u2014 and a real thrill \u2014 to be asked to curate the 2026 shows at the Royal Albert Hall.
