One person has died and a second is fighting for their life after a horror crash in Saddleworth<\/a>. A Fiat 500 smashed into a bungalow <\/a>in the village of Diggle<\/a> shortly before 9:20am yesterday morning (Monday, December 8).<\/p>\n Police said the vehicle was travelling southeast along Dorset Avenue and that as the driver approached the junction with Huddersfield Road, ‘the vehicle crossed the junction’ and hit the building.<\/p>\n All three emergency services attended the scene immediately afterwards with a large cordon being put in place.<\/p>\n A passenger in the car, aged 81, died at the scene, Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) have now confirmed. The driver, aged 75, suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital, they added.<\/p>\n An investigation by the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now underway. They are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle before the collision, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident, to urgently come forward.<\/p>\n Anyone with information is asked to call the SCIU directly on on 0161 856 4741, or to use the Live Chat service on the GMP website<\/a>, quoting log number 694 of 08\/12\/25.<\/p>\n Earlier, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed they rescued one person from the vehicle.<\/p>\n A spokesperson said: \u201cAt around 9.20am this morning (Monday 8 December), three fire engines from Oldham<\/a>, Mossley and Stalybridge<\/a> fire stations attended a crash involving a car going into a bungalow on Dorset Avenue, Oldham.<\/p>\n \u201cFirefighters arrived quickly to make the vehicle safe and remove one person from the vehicle.
