King Charles could extend Christmas olive branch to son Prince Harry<\/p>\n
King Charles could try to work out things with Prince Harry, says an expert.<\/p>\n
His Majesty, who is trying to bring his family together during the festive season, could also make amends with his estranged son in the U.S.<\/p>\n
\u201cCertain aspects of the royal Christmas are a fundamental part of our lives, and have been for generations,\u201d says royal correspondent Richard Palmer. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe King\u2019s speech, the big gathering at Sandringham and the family\u2019s walk to church on Christmas Day all fill the news schedule, providing a sense of tradition and an important message about their values and the way they lead the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, author Katie Nichols said: \u201cIt\u2019s a major thing because there are only two occasions in the year when the whole family gets together for any length of time \u2013 during the summer at Balmoral, and then at Christmas at Sandringham.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the King, Christmas Day is also the one day of the year when he doesn\u2019t read the government papers in his red box.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a religious day and the only day he can fully switch off, just as his mother used to,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n
This comes as Prince Harry is waiting to hear from King Charles after making major strides in his fight for receiving police protection in the UK.<\/p>\n
\u201cA Skype call is probably a more realistic option. It\u2019s too soon for Harry and Meghan to attend an event like the royal Christmas when there\u2019s so much still to sort out,\u201d royal correspondent Richard Palmer told The Mirror.<\/p>\n
