Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland\u2019s Major Investigation Team have arrested a 68-year-old man in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Lisa Dorrian, who disappeared nearly two decades ago.<\/p>\n
Police confirmed the man was detained earlier today, Monday 8 December, on suspicion of murder, assisting offenders, withholding information and preventing a lawful and decent burial. <\/p>\n
Ms Dorrian was last seen alive on the night of Sunday 27 February 2005 in Ballyhalbert, County Down. Her disappearance sparked one of Northern Ireland\u2019s most enduring missing-person investigations, with extensive searches carried out across the Ards Peninsula over the years.<\/p>\n
The PSNI said detectives from its Major Investigation Team continue to pursue all lines of inquiry in the case. The arrest marks a significant development in an investigation that has remained active for 19 years.<\/p>\n
Although several searches and public appeals have taken place since 2005, Ms Dorrian\u2019s body has never been found. Police have repeatedly stated their belief that she was murdered and that individuals may have withheld crucial information.<\/p>\n
The PSNI has not released further details regarding today\u2019s arrest but confirmed that \u201cthe 68-year-old man was arrested earlier today, Monday 8 December, on suspicion of murder, assisting offenders, withholding information and preventing a lawful and decent burial.
