KRW Law, who represent families of some of those murdered by the IRA, have issued a statement following the report’s publication.<\/p>\n
They say that while today “marks the end of seven years of work” it is “not the end of what, at times, has been a fraught and anxiety-laden journey for the next of kin of those murdered”.<\/p>\n
They say that the publication of the report “points the way forward to getting more answers” such as naming Stakeknife.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s important to record that the Kenova team have fought hard to name Stakeknife.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s important to observe that NCND is not enshrined in any piece of legislation. Rather it is a government-driven policy which serves to protect matters of national security at all costs.<\/p>\n
“We call upon the government to drop its incessant use of NCND to block-tackle families getting this confirmation.”<\/p>\n
They said not naming Stakeknife is a “matter of deep regret” and is “insulting to the families”.<\/p>\n
