Ricky Gervais has donated a portion of \u00a32.5million from the proceeds of his Mortality world tour to a Scots animal charity<\/a>. The 64-year-old comedian has gifted the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home with an early \u00a3100k Christmas present after he split the huge sum between 22 charities across the UK.<\/p>\n The Office star unveiled a long list of organisations<\/a> he was donating money to on his X account. The People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA), Celia Hammond Animal Trust, International Animal Rescue and Animals Asia, all received \u00a3150k.<\/p>\n Nowzad were also handed \u00a3132k as the remaining 17 charitable firms, including the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, received<\/a> \u00a3100k. He wrote: “To celebrate my Mortality Tour, my Netflix Special, my Golden Globes nomination & The Spirit of Christmas, I am donating \u00a32.43 Million to Animals. These are the lovely charities I\u2019ve chosen. Merry Xmas Critters”<\/p>\n The Edinburgh Dog and Cat home thanked the After Life creator. A spokesperson said: “We\u2019re blown away by your generosity; this is the best news this festive season! Thank you for this amazing donation, it means the world to our whole team. We will continue to look after the dogs, cats and the families who need us – thank you.”<\/p>\n Following Gervais’ Armageddon tour in 2023, he donated portions off a \u00a31.9million sum to 11 charities. Ricky Gervais’s stand-up special Mortality will premiere globally on Netflix<\/a> on Monday, December 30, 2025.<\/p>\n A brand-new comedy from Ricky Gervais is also heading to Netflix, with much of the cast from his hit series After Life<\/a> reuniting for the project. Several familiar faces from the fan-favourite show have already signed on to the project.<\/p>\n Set to premiere in 2026, the new adult comedy will be titled Alley Cats<\/a> and written by Emmy and BAFTA award-winning creator Gervais. The cast<\/a> will include After Life favourites Tom Basden (Matt), Tony Way (Lenny), David Earl (Brian), Kerry Godliman (Lisa), Jo Hartley (June) and Diane Morgan (Kath).
