A festive lights trail on the edge of Greater Manchester has been cancelled because of Storm Bram<\/a>.<\/p>\n The new Alice in the Hidden Garden Light Trail <\/a>is taking place at Bents this Christmas<\/a> – ‘a magical mile-long trail of twinkling lights and incredible life-sized animations’.<\/p>\n But because of the weather<\/a>, which has already sparked an amber flood alert in the region, the event has had to be cancelled for Tuesday night.<\/p>\n In a message to customers, Bents said: “For everyone\u2019s safety during Storm Bram, we\u2019ve sadly had to close this evening’s Light Trail.<\/p>\n “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Our team will reach out to all affected guests tomorrow morning.”<\/p>\n Promising to ‘take visitors on a magical journey telling the story of Alice\u2019s adventures and the curious creatures she meets along the way’, the after-dark adventure at the attraction in Glazebury, Warrington, takes place in the Hidden Gardens behind the centre\u2019s outdoor plant area.<\/p>\n Visitors who have had their tickets cancelled will hopefully be able to rearrange a time as the event is running from Monday to Saturday from now until January 3, excluding December 24 to 26, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.<\/p>\n Downpours have battered Greater Manchester overnight and on Tuesday morning (December 9), while gusty winds are affecting parts of the UK.<\/p>\n The Environment Agency issued two amber flood alerts for Greater Manchester earlier today, across the upper and lower River Irwell catchments. It has since removed the alert for upper River Irwell catchment, but added a new amber alert for the middle River Mersey catchment.<\/p>\n The new alert covers areas including Bramhall<\/a>, Stockport<\/a>, Sale<\/a>, Altrincham<\/a> and Urmston<\/a>. An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “Rising river levels today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible on December 9, 2025.<\/p>\n “Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads around Micker, Cringle, Sinderland and Poynton Brooks and their tributaries. Flood warnings are not currently expected to be issued.<\/p>\n “We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.”<\/p>\n The area affected includes the Micker, Cringle, Sinderland and Poynton brooks, and their tributaries. Other locations which may be affected are Stretford<\/a>, Gatley, Cheadle and Cheadle Hulme<\/a>, the Environment Agency says.<\/p>\n The amber alert for the lower River Irwell includes the rivers Irk and Medlock, between Manchester city centre<\/a> and north Manchester, plus the Wince and Worsley<\/a> brooks and their tributaries.
