Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, a member of the U.K. cabinet, pushed backed at those remarks Wednesday, and heaped praise on her fellow Labour politician.<\/p>\n

\u201cI strongly disagree with those comments,\u201d she told Sky News. \u201cI think Sadiq is doing a really good job and has been at the forefront of providing affordable housing [and] improvements to transport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nandy said Khan, London\u2019s first Muslim mayor, had offered a model for the U.K. government to follow nationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been one of the people who has set up multi-agency approaches to help young people with knife crime, gang violence that we\u2019re learning from in government,\u201d she said. \u201cSo I strongly disagree.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked explicitly if Trump\u2019s comments were wrong, Nandy replied: \u201cYes he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his wide-ranging interview with POLITICO<\/a>, the U.S. president also claimed Khan \u2014 who has won three consecutive terms as mayor of London and has no power to determine national migration policy \u2014 had been elected \u201cbecause so many people have come in.
