The show will determine who will carry the German flag to Vienna for the 70th anniversary edition of the Eurovision Song Contest this May.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"763\" data-end=\"1334\">This year\u2019s selection process promises one of Germany\u2019s most ambitious approaches in recent memory. The German finalists have been chosen through a <strong>multi-stage internal procedure<\/strong>, which included SWR-organized songwriting camps where artists collaborated with internationally established writers and producers to craft potential Eurovision entries. From there, a curated shortlist of acts and songs was <strong>evaluated by music industry professionals<\/strong>, an international jury, and selected audience representatives \u2014 with only the strongest contenders moving on to the live final.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1825\">2026 also marks the first year with Tina Sikorski at the helm as Germany\u2019s Head of Delegation. Representing SWR \u2014 the new ARD lead broadcaster for Eurovision \u2014 Sikorski emphasized the cultural significance of the contest, describing music as a universal language that continues to resonate powerfully across Europe. She noted that the German final will showcase \u201coutstanding performances\u201d and ultimately reveal the act capable of making Germany \u201cshine at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"2082\">More details on the format of the show, the participating artists, and press accreditation guidelines will be released in January.
