They are reporting that FC Basel winger Philip Otele is wanted by <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/birmingham-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> City in January.<\/p>\n<p>Crystal Palace are also keen on signing the 26-year-old. Otele would reportedly cost around \u20ac8-10m to sign.<\/p>\n<p>Who is <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/birmingham-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> City target Philip Otele?<\/p>\n<p>Otele\u2019s senior career began in England\u2019s non-league tiers with Wolviston FC from 2017 to 2019, where his flair and creativity started to attract attention. Over two seasons, he produced 14 goals and seven assists in 50 league matches, earning interest from scouts and securing a pre-contract with CFR Cluj in early 2023.<\/p>\n<p>His time at Cluj proved highly successful, as he hit 11 goals in 25 Liga I games while also contributing in European qualifiers. By December 2025, he had produced 19 goals and eight assists in 47 games, earning praise from former boss Adrian Mutu and a provisional Nigeria AFCON call-up.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/birmingham-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> City\u2019s current attacking options<\/p>\n<p>BCFC are blessed with attacking options, but Otele would still be a big signing. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/articles\/cx207m8399zo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summer signings Demarai Gray<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/2025\/12\/05\/birmingham-city-patrick-roberts-permanent-move-opinion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Patrick Roberts are the current starting options out wide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A key part of BCFC\u2019s recent form has been the developing partnership of Jay Stansfield and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcfc.com\/pages\/en\/media-article\/blues-complete-signing-of-marvin-ducksch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marvin Ducksch<\/a>, who have become a formidable attacking duo. Both players are prime examples of <a class=\"lar-automated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/the72.co.uk\/category\/birmingham-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a>\u2019s smart recruitment in recent transfer windows.<\/p>\n<p>Otele would be excellent competition for those four players.
