Aston Villa’s first January signing is expected to be completed soon<\/p>\n

Aston Villa are expected to complete the signing of Alysson from Gremio.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 19-year-old is now due to undergo a medical with Villa<\/a> ahead of joining in January.<\/p>\n

Villa are believed to have struck a deal worth around \u00a310 million<\/a> for Alysson, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Gremio this year.<\/p>\n

The Brasileiro S\u00e9rie A season finished last weekend, with Alysson featuring in 31 of Gremio’s 38 matches.<\/p>\n

He scored once and provided two assists, and it is thought that his move to Villa is with a view to developing him as a long-term prospect at the club.<\/p>\n

Villa\u2019s short-term plan for him is unclear, but naturally there will be parallels drawn between his arrival and Jhon Duran’s move to B6 two years ago.<\/p>\n

Dur\u00e1n joined Villa from Chicago Fire in a deal worth a similar amount and was handed a few first-team opportunities before showing what he was capable of in the months that followed.<\/p>\n
