{"id":625784,"date":"2025-12-11T07:12:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T07:12:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/625784\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T07:12:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T07:12:31","slug":"rafe-spall-to-play-u-k-prime-minister-in-steven-moffats-number-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/625784\/","title":{"rendered":"Rafe Spall to Play U.K. Prime Minister in Steven Moffat&#8217;s &#8216;Number 10&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/rafe-spall\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rafe-spall_1\" data-tag=\"rafe-spall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rafe Spall<\/a> will play the British prime minister in a new political comedy-drama Number 10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/number-10-show-steven-moffat-channel-4-1236346694\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter broke the news<\/a> that Sherlock <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/steven-moffat-tiff-2024-1235989494\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">creator Steven Moffat<\/a> was penning his first project for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/channel-4\/\" id=\"auto-tag_channel-4_1\" data-tag=\"channel-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Channel 4<\/a>, a series following one of the most famous addresses in the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tProduced by Hartswood Films, part of ITV Studios, Number 10 will be led by Spall, next to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/jenna-coleman-the-jetty-detective-series-metoo-bbc-studios-showcase-1235829569\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jenna Coleman<\/a> (Doctor Who, The Sandman) as his deputy chief of staff and Katherine Kelly (Mr Bates vs The Post Office) as chief of staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJoining them in 10 Downing Street are Akshay Khanna, Abigail Lawrie, Laura Haddock, Jing Lusi,  Pierro Niel-Mee, Rick Warden, Joe Wilkinson, Robyn Cara, Richard Rankin, Rhiannon Clements, Patrick Baladi, Shaun Prendergast, Harry Baxendale, Alex Macqueen, Sid Sagar, Sam Alexander and Emer Kenny.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s a Prime Minister in the attic, a coffee bar in the basement, and a wallpapered labyrinth of romance, crisis and heartbreak in between,\u201d a plot synopsis reads. \u201cSet in the only terrace house in history with mice and a nuclear deterrent, it\u2019s the only knock-through in the world where a hangover can start a war. The government will be fictional and unspecific, but the problems will be real. We\u2019ll never know which party is in power, because once the whole world hits the fan it barely matters. This is a show about the building and everyone inside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSpall said: \u201cNumber 10 is a sensational piece of writing, equal to its peerless author, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/steven-moffat\/\" id=\"auto-tag_steven-moffat_1\" data-tag=\"steven-moffat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steven Moffat<\/a>. I\u2019m delighted to be playing the Prime Minister, in a funny, real and thrilling piece of TV,\u201d while Coleman added: \u201cI thought it was about time I visited another British institution with Steven Moffat. I\u2019m very much looking forward to moving into Number 10 with Steven\u2019s cracking scripts and working with Sue Vertue, Ben Palmer, Rafe Spall and Katherine Kelly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKelly said, \u201cI am delighted to be reunited with Steven Moffat. His scripts are second to none, and I am thrilled to be working with the team at Hartswood Films once more. Other nations are ruled from mighty palaces. Britain is run from a little brick street with a big black door. If you want to do a workplace comedy drama this one is the boss of them all. And what a cast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCommissioned for Channel 4 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/netflix-uk-film-director-ollie-madden-film4-channel-4-1236236119\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gwawr Lloyd<\/a>, acting head of Channel 4 drama, the executive producers for Hartswood Films are Moffat and Sue Vertue, with Lawrence Till as the producer. Rachel Stone will be the co-producer. The director will be Ben Palmer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNumber 10 is produced in association with and will be distributed by ITV Studios.
