West Ham have already started to ramp up their January transfer plans and want to bring in a defender from a Champions League club.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nuno Espirito Santo\u2019s<\/a> side have been threadbare at the back and are looking to shore up their backline in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

They have conceded 29 goals in the Premier League<\/a> this season, with the only two sides below them, Burnley and Wolves, conceding more.<\/p>\n

According to TEAMtalk<\/a>, the Hammers are among a host of teams keen on signing Nathaniel Brown in January.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt left-back is also wanted by Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood that it is only a matter of time before the Germany international arrives in England.<\/p>\n

Brown impressed against Barcelona and provided an assist in his side\u2019s 2-1 defeat at the Camp Nou in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

He is averaging four tackles per game in Europe\u2019s elite club competition, which is one of the highest tallies.<\/p>\n

The Frankfurt defender was on the Hammers\u2019 radar early on, but they will now have to fend off competition from some of England\u2019s top teams to secure his services.<\/p>\n

If the German side are to part ways with him, they would want a fee north of \u00a350million.<\/p>\n

Is El Hadji Malick Diouf\u2019s place in the starting eleven in doubt?<\/p>\n

West Ham signed El Hadji Malick Diouf<\/a> in the summer and the decision to bring him to the club has paid off.<\/p>\n

Left-back was an area that needed addressing and the Senegal international\u2019s signing has certainly achieved that.<\/p>\n

If West Ham<\/a> are seriously considering signing an upgrade, the plan could be to move Diouf<\/a> to a more advanced position.<\/p>\n

He has already shown just how effective he can be in the final third, and having a left-footed left-winger may give Nuno\u2019s side a different dimension in attack.<\/p>\n

That being said, Brown appears to be extremely expensive, and with other big teams lurking, he will ask for significant wages, too.<\/p>\n

Signing another centre-back and a striker appear to be the priorities in January, and they are unlikely to waste money on a position they are already pretty strong. <\/p>\n
