A report from Spain has explained that it will not be easy for Atletico Madrid to sign Cristian Romero from Tottenham, even though the Argentine has already given his approval to the transfer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Atletico Madrid have made contact with Cristian Romero<\/a>\u00a0regarding a summer transfer.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed that Romero is interested in a transfer to Atletico Madrid <\/a>and has his heart set on working with Diego Simeone after holding talks with the Argentine coach.<\/p>\n

The prospect of a summer transfer to the Metropolitano Stadium for the Spurs vice-captain was boosted even further when last week, Romero admitted that he would love to play in Spain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mundo Deportivo<\/a> have now become the latest outlet to confirm that the Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> vice-captain has indeed given his approval to sign for the Spanish giants this summer.<\/p>\n

However, the publication explains that there is still one major roadblock that would have to be overcome: Tottenham\u2019s asking price.<\/p>\n

Even though Romero has two years left on his Tottenham contractl<\/a>, the North Londoners are said to be demanding as much as \u20ac80m (\u00a368m) to part ways with the World Cup winner.<\/p>\n

However, the report claims that Atletico are only willing to offer around \u20ac40m-\u20ac50m (\u00a334m-\u00a342.5m), which means that a significant gap needs to be bridged between the two clubs.<\/p>\n

Atletico\u2019s plan to sign Romero on a discount<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, one Argentine outlet explained how Atletico plan to bridge the gap between their valuation and Tottenham\u2019s.<\/p>\n

It was suggested that Romero could push for a Tottenham transfer, <\/a>forcing the club to bring down their asking price and potentially making it easier for Atletico to land the defender..<\/p>\n

However, we know that Daniel Levy<\/a> does not take too kindly to being pressured in that manner, and one can thus expect the Spurs chairman to make things really difficult for the Spanish side.<\/p>\n
