New details surrounding Betsy Arakawa\u2019s death have been revealed by her final autopsy results. <\/p>\n
The 95-year-old French Connection actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65,\u00a0were found dead at their home in Santa Fe<\/a>, New Mexico, at the end of February.<\/p>\n The usual way they were discovered sparked a police investigation into their deaths.<\/p>\n It was later revealed that\u00a0Hackman, 95, died of heart disease<\/a>\u00a0with advanced Alzheimer\u2019s disease listed as a significant contributory factor\u2019, while the classical pianist, 65, battled\u00a0hantavirus \u2013 a rare, infectious condition \u2013 before her death.<\/p>\n It has now emerged that Arakawa had fluid in her chest, and the vessels supplying blood to her heart and body had mild hardening, as confirmed in an autopsy seen by AP as reported by Fox<\/a>. <\/p>\n She died from\u00a0hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, which was transmitted by rodents living around their home. <\/p>\n It was confirmed that she tested negative for COVID-19 and the flu. She also had normal carbon monoxide levels and tested positive for caffeine but negative for alcohol and intoxicating drugs.<\/p>\n \t\t This comes just a couple of days after the release of Hackman\u2019s final autopsy.<\/a><\/p>\n Fox<\/a>\u00a0reported that the final autopsy from the Office of the Medical Investigator in New Mexico, has revealed he had further\u00a0health<\/a>\u00a0issues.<\/p>\n As well as a \u2018history of congestive heart failure\u2019 and \u2018severe chronic hypertensive changes, kidneys\u2019, the actor also had a \u2018bi-ventricular pacemaker\u2019 fitted in April 2019.<\/p>\n The documents noted \u2018neurodegenerative features consistent with Alzheimer\u2019s Disease\u2019.<\/p>\n The report read: \u2018Autopsy showed severe atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with placement of coronary artery stents and a bypass graft, as well as a previous aortic valve replacement.<\/p>\n \u2018Remote myocardial infarctions were present involving the left ventricular free wall and the septum, which were significantly large.<\/p>\n \u2018Examination of the brain showed microscopic findings of advanced-stage Alzheimer\u2019s disease.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tThe full timeline of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa’s deaths\t\t\t<\/p>\n Police say Hackman likely died on\u00a0February 18<\/strong>, almost a week after his wife Arakawa is thought to have died on\u00a0February 11<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On\u00a0February 9<\/strong>\u00a0Arakawa took the dog, who was found deceased in the crate, to the vets for a procedure.<\/p>\n On\u00a0February 11<\/strong>\u00a0Arakawa sent her last email, to her massage therapist at around 11am. In the afternoon, she took a trip to a farmer\u2019s market, CVS pharmacy and a pet food shop.<\/p>\n Her car was used to access the gated community after 5pm. She did not have any ongoing communication or activity in the local area after\u00a0February 11<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On\u00a0February 12<\/strong>, Arakawa\u00a0made multiple calls to a health clinic<\/a>\u00a0for medical treatment, which she was not able to receive.
