Most of the works were shown in the exhibition <a class=\"transition-all duration-default shadow-internalLink hover:text-red-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theartnewspaper.com\/2025\/03\/28\/henri-matisses-daughter-marguerite-inspires-a-new-angle-on-the-ubiquitous-artist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matisse and Marguerite: Through Her Father\u2019s Eyes<\/a>\u00a0which launched at the museum earlier this year.\u00a0Dauphin Duthuit was married to the late Claude Duthuit,\u00a0Matisse&#8217;s\u00a0grandson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pt-dp-p font-text-light font-light text-lg leading-normal tracking-wide mb-base last:mb-0\" itemprop=\"text\">The works donated includes seven paintings, one sculpture, 28 drawings and eight etchings, most of which portray Marguerite Matisse, the painter\u2019s eldest daughter whom he had with his model Caroline Joblaud in 1894. <\/p>\n<p class=\"pt-dp-p font-text-light font-light text-lg leading-normal tracking-wide mb-base last:mb-0\" itemprop=\"text\">Matisse\u00a0acknowledged the child when she was three and she thereafter lived with the artist and his wife, Am\u00e9lie.
