The crash happened at around 3.40pm on Thursday (December 11) on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/upton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Upton<\/a> Road, near Seaforth Drive in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/wirral\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"WirralLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Wirral<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/merseyside-police\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Merseyside PoliceLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Merseyside Police<\/a> confirmed it involved a bus and a Ford E-Transit van. Arriva North West warned passengers of significant delays, announcing that services 413 and 414 were being diverted. In a statement posted on X, the company said: &#8220;Due to a police incident on Upton Rd, services 413 &amp; 414 will divert via Sandbrook Lane, Manor Drive, Upton Bypass &amp; Ford Rd in both directions until further notice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Delays are likely, please allow extra time for your journey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/travel\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Traffic monitoring service InrixLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Traffic monitoring service Inrix<\/a> reported the road was closed in both directions while emergency services attended the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Witnesses described the bus as &#8220;really, really badly smashed&#8221;, with one person writing on social media: &#8220;Does anybody know what\u2019s happened in Moreton with the 414 bus to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/new-brighton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">New Brighton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The whole bus front in bits with police and ambulance and recovery? The windscreen looked like a bomb had hit it\u2026 I hope everyone involved is okay.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Another witness said: &#8220;We were stood next to it when it happened, didn&#8217;t half make a bang! Everyone seemed ok physically and got out the van and bus quite quickly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Merseyside Police confirmed no injuries were reported.
