Best of Scotland&#8217;s poultry workers have a cracking evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>The best of<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/business_hq\/23367271.farmers-make-call-horticulture-poultry-join-energy-scheme\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Scotland&#039;s poultry industry;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>Scotland&#8217;s poultry industry<\/strong><\/a> <strong>was on display last week, as the nation\u2019s egg ranchers gathered in Dunblane to celebrate another cracking year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poultryclubofscotland.com\/event-details\/poultry-club-of-scotland-dinner-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Poultry Club of Scotland Dinner;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Poultry Club of Scotland Dinner<\/a>, held each year since 1995 (sans pandemic), brought together more than 300 poulterers from across Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Billy McArdle, senior production manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.2agriculture.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:2Agriculture;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">2Agriculture<\/a> in Ingliston was the latest recipient of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/howie-surgener-cup-presented-to-mr-david-scott-lohmann-g-b\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Howie Surgeonor;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Howie Surgeonor<\/a> Cup, which recognises &#8216;extraordinary contribution\u2019 to Scotland\u2019s poultry industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meanwhile, Alistair McBain, farm operations manager at Duncan Farms near Drymen, received the Young Person Under 35 award.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Billy McArdle (L) recieves the Howie Surgenor Award. (Image: Supplied)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Veterinary surgeon Matthew Balfour of St David\u2019s Poultry serves as chairman of the annual dinner, held this year at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/news\/25668164.apex-hotels-bids-preserve-grandeur-dunblane-hydro\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Dunblane Hydro Hotel;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Dunblane Hydro Hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He said: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/events\/?ref=au\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Events;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Events<\/a> like this are perfect for strengthening relationships across the sector and provide a rare opportunity to take a well-earned night off from the hard work put in by everyone over the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWith continued growth across layers, breeders and broilers, it\u2019s no surprise we see more people attending each year.
