The Queen hosted a festive children\u2019s party on Thursday, with those invited getting to decorate her Christmas tree and meet Santa.This was the 20th year that Camilla has held a Christmas party for children supported by charities she is involved with. This year, children and their families from charities Helen &amp; Douglas House and Roald Dahl&#8217;s Marvellous Children&#8217;s Charity were welcomed into Clarence House for the event.Camilla looked delighted today as she sat in a sleigh alongside children and with Santa behind her. The sleigh in question is actually a royal heirloom, originally used by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.There were reindeer at the party and &#8220;Hello!&#8221; magazine reported that Camilla was given toys from Santa for her pet dogs. Images of the event showed the Queen\u2019s equerry, Major Rob Treasure, putting decorations onto the tree with his sword.\u201cThe children will join Her Majesty in decorating the Christmas tree &#8211; a festive tradition now in its 20th year \u2013 and enjoy a special visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer,\u201d Buckingham Palace said in a statement. Camilla started this tradition when she was Duchess of Cornwall and has continued to host it in Clarence House since becoming Queen in 2022.&#8221;The Telegraph&#8221; newspaper reported that Camilla told today\u2019s attendees that this annual event signalled the start of Christmas for her. \u201cI say this every year, to me it\u2019s the start of Christmas,\u201d the newspaper reported she said. \u201cI haven\u2019t really got my head round it until I come here and I realise it\u2019s about to happen.\u201dThe Queen has been Patron of Oxfordshire charity Helen &amp; Douglas House, which cares for terminally ill children and was the world&#8217;s first children&#8217;s hospice when it opened in 1982, since 2007.
